WhatsApp has introduced a new feature for users that automatically mutes calls from unknown numbers. Mark Zuckerberg today announced the call mute feature along with a new privacy control option. He revealed that users can now automatically mute incoming calls from unknown contacts on WhatsApp for greater privacy and control.
Users can enable this option by going to Settings > Privacy > Calls and selecting the “Silence Unknown Caller” option. WhatsApp said that while calls from unknown numbers are automatically muted, they appear in notifications and the app’s call list. You can check later if it’s from someone you know, but whose number you haven’t saved in contacts.

When you receive a call from an unknown number, the phone will only show you the number along with the message “unknown number disabled”.
In addition, WhatsApp has added a new privacy check feature that will appear in the Privacy section. The check takes you through multiple steps to make you aware of various privacy checks. You can now choose from ‘Choose who can contact you’, ‘Manage your personal information’, ‘Add more privacy to your chats’ and ‘Add more protection to your account’.
In addition, users can change settings such as two-factor authentication. They can also decide who can add them to groups. They can also set a default timer for messages to disappear and control who can see their profile picture through this process.
Recently, WhatsApp also introduced a new “Chat Lock”. Using this feature, users can lock the chats individually.
