SCO is all set to revolutionize AJ&K’s Mirpur Tehsil digital landscape

Special Communications Organization (SCO), a leading telecom organization in Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJ&K) and Gilgit Baltistan (GB), is committed to ushering Azad Jammu & Kashmir into a new era of innovation by driving digitization efforts across the region. With a focus on digitization, SCO is actively working in more than 35 tehsils in Azad Jammu & Kashmir, as a precursor to the transformation.

Mirpur is fortunate to be the first tehsil to experience the benefits of digitization via high-speed fiber optic internet. Currently, fiber optic work is 100% complete in all districts of Mirpur. This initiative aims to revolutionize education, boost online businesses and create online job opportunities, bringing the region in line with global standards.

In the initial phase, 40% of all villages in Azad Jammu & Kashmir will be provided with reliable digital infrastructure. This development is of immense importance to the local people and marks a pioneering venture in Pakistan as a whole. As approximately 60% of Pakistan’s population, including Azad Jammu & Kashmir, is under the age of 25, this SCO mega project has huge potential to empower youth and provide them with valuable opportunities.
