Redmi Note 12R is tipped to be the first smartphone with Snapdragon 4 Gen 2

Xiaomi has undoubtedly become one of the best smartphone manufacturers in the world. The company keeps introducing new handsets to give its rivals stiff competition. Back in April, Xiaomi launched quietly Redmi Note 12R Pro with a price tag of CNY 1,800 ($250/€230/₹20,500). The handset came with the Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 but there was no vanilla model until now. According to the latest reports, Redmi note 12 R recently appeared on China Telecom’s website, and what do you think? The upcoming variant will interestingly have a better chipset.

Redmi Note 12R will feature Snapdragon 4 Gen 2

The point worth noting is that there were no official words about the chipset yet. However, the phone’s SM4450 chip is expected to be branded “Snapdragon 4 Gen 2” when unveiled by Qualcomm. Reports claim that it is likely to be made on a 4nm Samsung node instead of 6nm TSMC for the 4 Gen 1. Moreover, the upcoming Redmi phone can be configured with up to 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage with a microSD slot onboard .

According to China Telecom, the launch date of the Redmi Note 12R is June 30 in China. If it turns out to be true, it could be the first device to use the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2.
