PTA Launches NTSOC to Strengthen Cybersecurity in Pakistan –

Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has launched its National Telecom Security Operations Center (NTSOC), a centralized platform for managing cybersecurity incidents in the telecom sector.

The NTSOC was established under the Pakistan National Cybersecurity Policy 2021 and Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA 2016), with the aim of securing Pakistan’s critical telecom data and infrastructure against cyber-attacks.

The NTSOC is the first ever Sectoral Security Operations Center in Pakistan, following the release of Cyber Security Policy. It consists of three main components: Security Incident and Event Management (SIEM), Threat Intelligence, and Security Orchestration and Automated Response (SOAR), which are naturally adapted to improve the country’s cybersecurity rankings.

The NTSOC will be integrated with telecom operators’ SOCs and the national Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT), ensuring a rapid and effective response to incidents. Six telecom operators have been integrated with the NTSOC, the rest will follow gradually. The project includes continuous improvements to the delivered solution to keep pace with evolving cybersecurity threats.

PTA recognizes the invaluable support of its local partners in this endeavor.
