For anyone who doesn’t know, a five-passenger private submarine went missing this weekend. The internet is focused on the fate of this missing submarine Titan. The point worth noting is that this missing Titanic Submarine was on a tourist expedition to the wreck of the Titanic. Unfortunately it didn’t come back. The search for this missing submarine continues.

As rescuers scramble to find the missing submarine, questions have surfaced online about the safety of the submarine’s construction. Reports claim the vehicle was designed to travel 12,500 feet down to the Titanic’s resting place. Moreover, it can only be opened from the outside. In 2018, a lawsuit was even filed over the safety of the hull. It is quite clear from the photos and videos of the submarine from previous trips that it is controlled using a video game controller. We’re still not sure if the missing submarine used this controller or a different one on this recent trip. Photos of the submarine show several controllers. The controller that first came out in 2010 costs $30. The question arises, is it even a good controller for gaming that can only steer a submarine on crushing ocean depths?
The PlayStation controller used to control the Titan submarine appears to be one @Logitech Gamepad F710, available from Amazon for $30.

The controller has over 4,000 customer reviews on Amazon. It has a rating of 4.2 out of 5 stars. It is worth mentioning that customers placed particular importance on the ergonomics of the controller. Other common complaints included the use of AA batteries, the quality of the D-pad, and occasional wireless hiccups.

No doubt using the controller to control a submarine feels like a wild concept. Game controllers and game controller-inspired designs are generally used by militaries around the world to navigate drones, tanks, and other vehicles. The US Navy has even used game controllers to control parts of its submarines, including periscopes. Anyway, there were no updates on the missing submarine until now. Stay tuned for more updates.
